Dahlias and Dog Walks.

So you might end up hearing a bit about these dahlias, hopefully!  You see, I bought this really pretty dahlia pot from Costco last summer.  When I was cleaning out the garden in the fall, the bulbs were close to the surface of the soil, so I haphazardly put them in a Target plastic bag I was carrying and tossed them on the bottom of the work bench.  When I was sweeping out the garage, I opened the bag to find they had sprouted.  I found a you tube video that said to just throw them in a pot with soil indoors.  Do not even add water for awhile.  Well, I did just that.  Before I knew it the sprouts were growing.

...and growing.

I will keep you posted and see how it goes once I make the transfer to outdoors.  I sure hope this works!

Bella has turned into my walking buddy.  She is such an easy dog to walk.  Bailey gets a bit reactive on the leash, so I always feel like I need to be on alert.  With Bella not being reactive, I have been trying to take her on many of my walks.  It has been really fun.

Concerts, Hikes and a Nomination.

Sidney and her friend Kinsey went to a concert.  They did not realize until the day of the concert that they had purchased VIP tickets.  They got early entry, as well as a Q and A with the artist.

They were right in the front and made a couple of fast friends at the concert.

The artist brought up this young kid from the audience to do one of the final songs with him.  Sidney said it was super inspiring.

Sidney, Claire and Kennedy got together for one of their first long hikes of the season.  They stopped by the hot springs on the way home for a soak.  These girls have the best adventures.

Sidney has taken up pickleball.  I must admit it is pretty fun and a great way to get some exercise.

Sidney is a human of few words.  Sometimes I feel like I hear about things only when she is telling someone else about them.  She sent me this picture of an award she received at school.  Pretty cool!

Face Masks, Hardware and Selfies.

Diego is a very kind human.  The one bonus of Kendall's brankle was that he visited quite a bit, and we were able to really get to know him.  Face masks anyone?

Kendall's brankle is healing spectacularly.  Here is a nice picture of her hardware.

She is officially all moved back into her apartment.  She is able to hang her purse and keys on the rack we mounted just before the crash.

Diego is quite the cook.  If you can imagine it, he can cook it.  Kendall is the lucky recipient of not only his dishes, but the leftovers too!

Kendall sends me pictures for the blog.  There are always a number of selfies.  Sometimes I include them, sometimes I do not.  Here is the thing, I think I may start including them more.  Selfies are often taken when a person feels their best.  As I look back on pictures of myself over the years, I remember picking myself apart at times while I was in that moment, and now when I look at those pictures I see youth.  I see beauty.  I know a day will come when Kendall will look back and see that too.  Bring on the selfies!

Sidney's Junior Prom.

Sidney and her friend Keturah decided it would be fun to go to their Junior Prom together.  The girls made fun signs for each other and went dress shopping together.

The day of the dance, the girls went to Trader Joe's and bought some beautiful flowers and made bouquets.

Keturah's mom took pictures of the girls.  Sidney's dress was absolutely beautiful.  Sidney looked amazing!

The girls went out for sushi and then went to the dance.  They had a really fun time!

Friends and Snails.

There were a few A Way With Clay gift cards that exchanged hands over Christmas.  So, we all decided it was time for a girls night out.  My mom, Kendall, Rebecca and I met up for some fun and creativity.

I decided on this adorable snail for my backyard patio table.  The thing is...you just never know how things are actually going to turn out until it is fired.

I would say this guy turned out pretty cute.  He is enjoying his new perch in my backyard.

Spurwing Jump Show.

Sidney and Pigeon have been doing some amazing work the past few months.  Pigeon is such an impressive horse.  He is literally willing to try anything.  He is very athletic and has so much try!  Sidney's trainer encouraged her to try one of the jump shows at Spurwing Stables.  She signed up.  It was a great day.  They even had food trucks on site - yes!

I am sure that I got a few better pictures, but this is the one I could find.  They look so dapper.

This is not from show day.  This is from one of their practices.  It is just a really great picture to show how well they are doing.  As our friend said, Sidney's equitation is on point!

The show was a lot of fun.  There were two arenas going.  One was for the high jumpers and the other was for those jumping lower or first timers to the show.  Everyone was super encouraging and supportive.

Here are a few still from some of the rounds.

This picture is crazy.  If you zoom in, you can see that it was absolutely pouring rain. The sky literally dumped right as Sid was heading into the ring.  Well, the horse world does not seem to stop for anything, so onward they went.

They did super well.  I believe she ended the day with 2 first place ribbons, a second place and one fifth place.  Well done!

Meet Desi, the Therapy Cat.

Kendall really enjoyed being surrounded by the animals (Willow and the doggos) while she was healing her brankle.  I think she had forgotten how much dopomine (Ha - her word, not mine) they provide.  She talked with her roommates about the prospect of getting a cat.  They all said they were okay with that.  Kendall is allergic to cats, yep!  That being said, she finds that she can take allergy medicine and wash her hands frequently to keep things in check.  She also noticed that she is not as sensitive to shorter haired cats.

She had been watching the humane society to see if any interesting cats came along.  She wanted one that was a few years old, versus a kitten, given the apartment situation.  They posted a sweet looking little girl on their website.  Kendall had class that morning, so I took some time off work, to go check out this cat for her.  Desi was the cats name and it was love at first sight from where I was sitting.  Since it was not going to be my cat, I needed to stay neutral, so I sent a couple pictures to Kendall.  It was definitely love at first sight for her too.

As I was visiting with Desi, I noticed she kept rubbing her ears against the wall.  I asked the worker to take a look.  Sure enough, she had an ear infection.  They put her on a medical hold, until they were able to get her seen by the vet.  Once Kendall was out of class, she basically camped out at the Humane Society visiting with Desi.

They took her over to the other location for a couple of days to get her treated. Once she was feeling a bit better, they called Kendall to come pick her up.

It has been a fast friendship.  Desi has fit right in with the girls and the apartment.  Of course, Kendall has been spoiling her rotten!

She is very intrigued by Kendall's fish, Marmalade.  So far, no issues though!

Kendall said Desi made it very hard to study for finals. as she kept climbing onto the laptop.  Somehow I think that might be an excuse.

She has found all the best hiding spots.

Oh...she also decided to knock over the vase full of flowers.  Welcome to pet parenthood!

I would say Desi has been a great addition to the family.
