The girls and I have been longing for a new dog for about a year now. We spent many Saturday afternoons at the humane society last summer playing with the dogs. Kevin was not so ready. One thing I know for sure, a new dog is never a good idea unless the whole family is on board with it. So, we waited (patiently I might add). About 2 weeks ago Kevin sent me a link to a cute 8 week old puppy. Of course I replied to him that he cannot just send me links like that and expect that I do nothing. He encouraged me to go check the puppy out, but my schedule did not permit it. Two days later, he came home from work and said he had just stopped by the pet store. Apparently, they had received 70 dogs from an overcrowded shelter out of state. The dogs were up for immediate adoption. We loaded up the van and went down to check them out. We fell in love with the cutest Dachshund - Chihuahua mix. The official term is chiweenie. Next step, we went home to get Cooper. Cooper did not mind the little dog at all. The little dog seemed a bit nervous at first, but five minutes into it they were playing just fine.
Meet the newest member of our family, Chili. He is 9.5 pounds and 1.5 years old. He is lovable and awesome. The best thing, he is potty trained.
Kendall has become Chili's primary care giver. They have formed a very tight bond. Chili sleeps with Kendall every night. He spends the days outside with Cooper. This will work until it starts to get cold again. Kendall has been doing an awesome job feeding and cleaning up after Chili.
Cooper had a health exam and a grooming appointment last weekend. The vet said that she is starting to get a bit older. She needs more walking and less fetching. Here is a shot of her from Easter (before the groomer).
Here she is after the groomer. I do not know what it is, but every time we have her groomed she comes out behaving like a puppy all over again.
