Brankle Update - Proceed with Caution.

Kendall has been working hard to keep up with her studies.  She has generally been feeling well, and has been very good about following doctors orders and not putting any weight on it.  The boot they gave her to keep the foot at a 90 degree ankle has been crazy uncomfortable.  Sidney and I have been doing our best to provide her entertainment.

The scar has been healing up nicely and looks better every day.

She was very anxious for her 6 week follow up appointment.  She was delighted to learn that she could start physical therapy and had the green light to start doing some weight bearing.

After her first physical therapy appointment, they told her she could start driving with caution.  Oh my goodness, this was the best news ever.  We loaded her car up (and mine) and moved her back into her apartment.  It was a bittersweet day for me (and her).  It was so nice to have her home, but it was also so nice to get her independence back.

Look at how skinny her calf is (on the left) after only six weeks of no weight bearing.  They said the ankle swelling will likely continue for the next year.

She has found that her dunks are a good height comparison for her boot.  She has been trying to transition to two shoes, but it does get pretty sore fast.
