Let the Festivities Begin!

Sidney and I could hardly wait to decorate for Christmas this year.  Kendall turned a bit Grinchy and told us that there would be no Christmas decorating until after Thanksgiving dinner.  She was determined that Thanksgiving get its due glory.  We had dinner with Rebecca and the Nelson kids.  It was delicious and good to be with them.  After we got home, it was a decorating party.  Kendall did the honors of placing the tree topper this year.  Somehow I thought the step stool would suffice, given that she has grown tremendously this year.  Nope, we still had to bring out the big ladder.

.
Sidney and the Grandma's (both of them) have been baking machines.  Sidney has been making all sorts of fun things.  Chocolate spoons, dipped cookies, sugar cookies, etc.  She has not been limiting herself to edible things either.  She has been making soap, shower steamers and bath fizzies.

The elf has made his appearance and has been up to no good.  The best part of this elf is that I refuse to do anything with him.  Sidney had been dying to get an elf, so a couple years ago we did with the caveat that I will do nothing.  She and Kendall have had a blast interacting with this elf.  Yes, non-traditional, but totally awesome.

The girls and I were looking for some fun, which can be very tricky nowadays.  The city ice rink is closed.  Movie theaters are closed.  Many of our traditional haunts, if they are open, require reservations and forethought.  I managed to get us 30 minutes reserved at the outdoor skating rink at The Village.  It was fun to get out.
