Animal Reports, 20-miler and Choir.

The school year is coming to a close and there are lots of activities.  The second graders are required to do an animal report.  As part of the report, they need to make a poster and share it with the class.  Sidney has been pretty excited about this project.   Last weekend, she asked to borrow our phones to arrange a study date.  Her friends Elona and Liberty came over Saturday afternoon to work on their posters.  I was very impressed at how well Sidney did at arranging the date.  She had no help from Kevin and I.  It was equally impressive that three eight year old girls actually managed to stay focused and get the job done.  Here is Liberty and Sidney with their posters.  The words are not colored in yet, and we did not manage to take the picture before Elona went home.

Sidney has decided she wants to complete the marathon award this year (26.2 miles).  She received her 20 miler a few weeks ago and is well on her way to meeting her goal.

The fourth graders did a musical with singing and recorders this year.  Kevin and I were "those" parents.  The ones that could not stop laughing at how awful recorders sound.  Of course, the kids are excited to play them, but I have never actually heard them sound good.  Since Kendall decided to purchase hers, we will be blessed with this sound all summer long!

Love this picture..."really".  We are starting to get more and more of these looks:)

The choir also held an evening concert.  It was actually quite amazing.  The choir is voluntary.  Fourth graders have to audition and fifth graders can join without audition.  The choir has met before school two day each week for the entire school year.  These kids are dedicated and amazing and so is their instructor, Miss McBean.  Last week, they took a field trip to BSU to sing with the music professor there.  They performed the same concert Thursday evening for the parents.

Kendall received a certificate for participating and consistent attendance.  This is one I truly hope she sticks with.  It seems to bring her great joy to sing and perform.
