WOW, were we ever sick over Thanksgiving. Sid started it off with a low grade fever the Friday before Thanksgiving. By the third day, I thought it best to take her in, as she seemed to be feeling even worse. She tested positive for Influenza B. Yikes. The following Monday, I flew to Seattle for work. In the airport that night, on the way home, I started to feel pretty rough. The next day, I too had Influenza B. I called my parents to warn them, but they decided to come down. They stayed for about 30 hours, because Friday morning, Kendall came down with it too. Yuck!
Fortunately, Kevin did not get sick. They had put him on a preventative medicine early in the week. We all had our flu shots this year. The doctor mentioned that those that did not get their flu shot have been hit really hard. Instead of a lively vacation of doing lots of festive things, we laid around and did mostly nothing.
Roy and Sherry sent this beautiful bouquet of flowers on Thanksgiving. They lasted forever, and brought a lot of holiday cheer to our home.
The girls enjoyed putting together their Operation Christmas Child boxes this year. They were packed with school supplies, toys and hair stuff. They always enjoy stuffing these boxes full.
Before we all got taken out by the flu virus, Kendall had decided she wanted to make cookies for the patients and staff at the cancer care center. Hannah came over and helped. They filled 26 bags of cookies.
The girls had the chance to meet some of the nurses that take care of Kevin. Treacy is one of Kevin's favorites (shh...don't tell). She gave the girls big hugs and told them how awesome Kevin is. When Kevin went in for treatment last Friday, they were all still talking about how the girls' had really brought a lot of cheer that day.
Sidney did most of the ornament hanging, as the rest of us were still pretty down and out. She was the first to bounce back!
The girls have been begging for onesies. They convinced Kevin that these were a 'need', so he sent me on a mission to find some. They had also convinced him that mom 'needed' a pair too. So, we are now the proud owners of some cozy pajamas.
The girls always enjoy decorating gingerbread men or houses. This year we opted for houses. As expected, much of the candy and frosting goes directly into their bodies as opposed to the houses. I suspect that is why they love doing this so much.
This picture was just too weird and creepy not to post!
