Gymnastics Challenge.

The girls have continued gymnastics this year.  It is a great program.  They are getting so much stronger and continue to be challenged.  Kevin and I love the coaches.  They recognize that not all of these girls are destined for the Olympics, so they encourage and challenge in a very balanced manner.

Each year, the recreational gymnastics program has several meets.  Last year, I viewed these meets quite differently.  To be honest, it was not very positive.  Now, I see them for what they are, a way for these girls to get in front of an audience and show off the skill they have been working on.  Their routines are judged, and they are provided feedback.  Some of these girls will go on to competitive teams and others will not, either due to the time commitment or due to their natural abilities.  In either case, these meets provide them a unique opportunity.

The girls did routines on the bars, the beam, the vault and the floor.  The level 3 and 4 girls chose their own floor routine for this meet.  They were given certain skill parameters and tasked with choreographing a routine.  It was awesome.

At the end of the meet, each participant received a medal and a score card with four ribbons, based on the judges scores.  It was a great learning experience and gave them some areas to work on.

Well done, ladies!
